10 Heat Pump Tips that YOU need to know

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016

Here’s some useful tips for Heat Pumps in the Winter time!
1. Keep the thermostat at a steady temperature.
2. If you want to raise the temperature, do it a couple of degrees at a time – if you increase it too fast, It can cause your heat pump to freeze up.
3. Use a programmable thermostat made specifically for heat pumps.
4. Don’t be alarmed by steam or frost on your outside heat pump. It’s normal heat pump action in the winter.
5. Heat pumps are not meant for extreme weather. The auxiliary heat will help at this point but it will not heat like a gas furnace.
6. Make sure to change your filter every 3 months. A dirty filter can cause numerous issues.
7. If the unit is covered in ice or snow, it must be removed in order to work properly. Turn the thermostat to Emergency heat or the off position and remove the snow and ice. You can pour warm water over the unit to melt the snow and ice. Even cold water from a hose will help, but do not use hot water.
8. Do not use any sharp objects to pick or knock the ice off the coils of the heat pump. This could cause severe damage and personal injury.
9. Once the unit is clear of snow and ice turn the thermostat back to normal heating. If the unit ices up again, call for service.
10. Do not let the outdoor unit sit underneath a leaking gutter. In the winter months, water will drip on the top of the unit and freeze solid. This will restrict the air flow and cause the whole unit to freeze-up.

Repeat Blog but Very Pertinent!!! Energy Saving Tips

Thursday, June 18th, 2015

Summer time is here full BLAST!!! Farmer’s Almanac says it’s going to be hot and HUMID!!

Here’s some tips to help with the higher electric bills:

1. Change your AC filters!
2. Set your thermostat at 78 (some times lower with the higher humidity!)
3. Have your AC unit serviced by a licensed contractor! Did we mention we’re licensed and insured?
4. Use your ceiling fans!
5. Close your blinds, curtains or any other window covering during the day!
6. Reduce your pool filter operation to 4-5 hours a day and at off peak hours!
7. Fill up your fridge – it takes a full fridge longer to lose it’s coolness when the door is open than an empty one!
8. Use your dishwasher – this uses less water than when you hand wash.
9. Cook with your microwave more! It uses 2/3 less energy than your stove!
If you want to program your thermostat thru your smart phone, we have these great Sensi thermostats available. Our prices are $199 for our Club members (if done at your service) or $259.95 for non-Club members!

Call Karen or Deb today at 770-736-5207! We are more than happy to schedule maintenance, repairs or an estimate for a whole new unit!

BRR! It’s on it’s way, Grayson, Lawrenceville, and Snellville!

Monday, January 5th, 2015
PLEASE!!!

PLEASE!!!

Brr!  Have you looked at the 5 day forecast for Loganville, Dacula, Suwanee or all of Gwinnett County?  We have!
It’s COLD!!!!
Wednesday we are looking at a HIGH of 39 – that’s right a HIGH! And Thursday, it’s supposed to be 30 with a low of 13!!!
Some simple things to know about your HVAC units:
*If you have a heat pump and temperatures go below 32, your unit will go into emergency heat – it’s not a gas furnace…It won’t heat like a furnace.
*Remember last year during the cold snap, some of the municipalities had gas issues. It might affect us again.
*If you have a unit in your attic with a condensate line, open your attic door a little so that line doesn’t freeze. That line freezing could cause water issues and also apply the emergency shutoff so your unit won’t be working at all.
*If your power goes out, first off even with a gas furnace, you will not have heat. Gas furnaces have electric blowers and also electric ignitions. Shut off your units at the thermostat. If your thermostat is blank, shut it off at the light switch by your unit. When the power is restored, the power surge could ruin your systems. Remember how they always told us to unplug our computers or use power plugs. Same reason.
If your outside unit is covered in ice, do NOT try to break off the ice.
Call us if you are having any problems, concerns or need to have your furnace/heat pump serviced or repaired!

Remember to be careful with these temperatures!  Frost bite starts fast!

Between Service Filter Change Options

Thursday, September 25th, 2014
Filthiest Filter for 9/14

Filthiest Filter for 9/14

We had to share this picture with you!  The homeowner says her husband doesn’t like to change the filters.  We have heard this enough that we are offering the option for our Club customers to pay a little extra for their contract for our technician to come in between services to change their filters.  The filter changing is a supplement to our regular twice yearly maintenance!

Importance of clean filters:
1. Allows your unit to breathe!
2. Helps your unit run as efficiently as
possible which reduces your energy bills
3. Home air quality is cleaner! Allergens are
less!
4. Less dust in your home
Wall Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. will add onto your Club Contract to come change your filter in between services. If your filter is located in a crawlspace, you don’t even have to be home…We’ll leave a note to let you know we were there!
This service is for 1 filter change appointment every 6 months.
This is for standard filters and does not include the air filtration filters.
Filter change appointments will be made when we are in the area and will not be used as a troubleshooting appointment.

On another note, until the end of October, we are offering our Sensi thermostats installed for $199 each. They are compatible with most Smartphones!

Call Deb or Karen at 770-736-5207 to schedule today!
