Importance of Changing Filters Regularly
Wednesday, January 15th, 2014Have you ever tried breathing through Saran Wrap?
That’s a comparison for when your filter is clogged solid. We can’t expect our HVAC system to be able to send out air when it can’t get through a solid wall of dirt and debris.
Obviously, that is only one of our maintenance steps for our Club members but it’s something homeowners need to do between their 6 month appointments. Sometimes, when you have numerous pets that shed a lot, it should be monthly! If you take out your old filter and can’t see light from the other side, you need to change your filter more often!
Also, some older homes have additional filters located away from their units! Call us so we can help you keep your system running safely and efficiently!
Wall Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. offers a Club membership for reasonable cost! Call Karen or Deb at 770-736-5207! We service: Loganville, Snellville, Lawrenceville, Suwanee, Grayson, Dacula, actually all of Gwinnett County!
Simple Facts about Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Friday, November 22nd, 2013I know we have carbon monoxide detectors installed. I work at Wall Heating and Air Conditioning. My HVAC/furnaces are checked for safety every six months like a good Club member. However, we can never be too safe for our family. We have one on each of our floors. In September, my CO detector started squealing every 60 seconds at 1:00 in the morning…Oh yes, that was very convenient. I was so lazy I covered my head and tried to drown out the noise until I got up in the morning…I knew that a short squeal means that the batteries needed to be changed. So I got up the next morning and changed the batteries. It kept squealing then I saw a sticker inside my alarm that said after 5 years to replace the CO detector. I didn’t know they had a life span.
Since then we have had a couple of our Club members saying theirs was going off and their furnaces weren’t that old. I had forgotten about the CO detector lifespan until Karen asked how old the CO detectors were. We found that their CO detectors had reached their lifespan.
If your gas furnace is over 8 years old and you haven’t had service, please be sure you have us come out and do a thorough inspection to be sure your furnace is safe!
Remember the holiday’s are fast approaching and we want to help ensure that they are as safe as we can help make them for you.

Fall Furnace, Air Handler and Heat Pump Maintenance Tips
Thursday, September 26th, 2013Happy Fall Y’All!!!
Now that the cooler weather is upon us?! I’m not sure if this statement is true but today we are having a high of 74. Of course, this summer was more of a fall. Now we are moving into the winter and it’s time to get our furnaces/heatpumps/air handlers ready for the cold winter. We here at Wall Heating and Air Conditioning are offering our fall maintenance for $79 each unit!
Some things to consider for the fall from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services:
As a rule, your alarms should be checked at least monthly and the batteries changed out twice a year. A good way to remember is to change the batteries in your smoke alarms when you change your clocks with the beginning or end of daylight saving time. Daylight saving time ends November 3rd this year.
Maintain your alarms regularly by keeping them dust-free and testing them as part of your home safety plan.
Place at least one smoke alarm on each level of your house, especially outside bedrooms and at the top of staircase landings. These areas give you the earliest alert about a possible fire in your home.
Replace smoke alarms that are 10 or more years old.
Carbon monoxide detectors have a life span. I found this out the hard way. Mine was going off every 60 seconds in the middle of the night…

Wednesday, we found a dog behind our office. His name is Bugs! Apparently he was missing since Friday. He had a tag on his collar for Heartgard – Getmehome.com but that information wasn’t updated. Then he had a rabies tag from 2009. It said Auburn Animal… When we Googled it came up with Hoschton Animal Hospital. They were very nice and said it was from Auburn Animal Hospital. We called them and were able to get Bugs home.
Just a reminder to all us animal owners, check to make sure that your animal has some identification on them so you can bring them home to you! We are certainly checking!
