Spring Clean Up All Over Gwinnett County!

Monday, April 29th, 2013

Now that spring is here in Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County, it’s time to clean up around our air conditioning units outside!

* Ants hills are springing up all over yards. They love to be around air conditioning units. Please be sure to address this before we come out to do your air conditioning maintenance! Thank you in advance!
* Wasp nests! We haven’t had a cold enough winter to kill off a lot of our pest population. Please be on the look out for wasp nests.
* General yard debris! I think that all our leaves, grass clippings and any trash blowing around the neighborhood lands by our air conditioning units! This can have a major affect on how your unit runs!
We can help you keep your air conditioner running at its best! Enroll in our routine maintenance program and we’ll come out twice a year!

Remember from our earlier ant blog that an ant can shut down your air conditioner. This is an easy preventative measure!

There are numerous reasons why your AC is not performing the way it should. Now is a great time to ensure that your home is ready for summer. For air conditioning repair in Lawrenceville and Gwinnett county, call Deb or Karen at Wall Heating and Air today at 770-736-5207!

Garden update:
Rototilled the garden this past weekend. Bought tomatoes, squash, sweet potatoes and zucchini. I’m not buying watermelon because last year’s plants should be reseeding! That watermelon was delicious. My pea plants are only 1 ft. tall. Worried about the lack of growth. Always worth watching.

Benefits of Gas Furnaces

Friday, December 21st, 2012
  • Indoor warmth any time it is required.
  • Energy efficiency – The efficiency of a furnace can be determined by its AFUE – or Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency. The minimum efficiency level for furnaces currently manufactured in the U.S. is 80% AFUE. A rating of “80% AFUE” means that for every dollar you spend heating your home; 80 cents are actually applied to the generation of warmth. Compared to many of the 60% AFUE furnaces in older homes, 80% AFUE furnaces are a significant improvement. However, for enhanced energy efficiency, you may wish to consider a 95+% AFUE furnace, such as Amana’s line of 96% AFUE Furnaces.
  • Cleaner air – As your HVAC system draws air out of various rooms in the house through return air ducts, the air is pulled through an air filter, which removes airborne particles such as dust and lint. Sophisticated filters may remove microscopic pollutants, as well. The filtered air is then routed to air supply duct-work that carries it back to rooms. Whenever the HVAC system is running, this cycle repeats continually, constantly filtering and cleaning the air in your home.

This cleaning process improves with the installation of a variable-speed furnace. Variable-speed furnaces use variable-speed blowers, which shift between several speeds. These furnaces will run longer at a low speed, which causes them to filter the indoor air more frequently.
And remember – because the furnace plays an important role in the operation of the air conditioner, its variable-speed blower helps maintain both a consistent indoor temperature and improved air quality year-round.

5 Reasons That NOW is the Time to Replace Your Inefficient HVAC System

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

1. Lowering Your Utility Bills
Whether you realize it or not, your current furnace could be costing you more than it should in heating bills. If your furnace is 15-20 years old, it’s probably not heating your home as efficiently as the newer models with higher AFUE ratings. Even if your heating system has been replaced within the last ten years, the technology has advanced enough to consider an upgrade.
2. Fewer Repairs
Repair costs can add up if you are constantly repairing your furnace. Routine maintenance for your furnace can help reduce the need for repairs, but as furnaces age, they tend to need more repairs and replacement parts. If you need frequent repairs for your furnace, it may be time to replace it with a newer one.
3. More Consistent Heat
While maintaining consistent temperatures throughout your home involves several factors, such as insulation and thermostat control, your furnace could also be the reason you aren’t getting enough heat to all parts of the house. If some rooms are colder than others, or if your heating bills have recently gone up, it may be time for a furnace replacement.
4. Safety
There’s higher potential for safety concerns with older or poorly maintained furnaces. In addition to fire hazards, carbon monoxide poisoning is another serious threat. When the heat exchanger stops working because it’s corroded or faulty, carbon monoxide can leak into the home. If you’ve had your furnace for more than 20 years, it could create safety hazards that you may be unaware of.
5. 25 Months 0% Interest with 25 Equal Monthly Payments
We know some of you are waiting for a great opportunity to switch from your old inefficient heating and air conditioning system. For a limited time, we have 0% interest for 25 months (with approved credit). 25 equal monthly payments required. No lengthy applications and approvals within minutes!

5 Top Reasons to Hire a Licensed and Insured HVAC Contractor

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

Believe us we know that as a Licensed and Insured HVAC contractor, we will not have the best pricing against these “fly-by-nighters”. But we feel the reasons far outweigh the pricing they can give to a homeowner.

1.  Licensed and Insured HVAC Contractors will be there in the years ahead. They are not “fly-by-nighters”. They have done what is required to be a “real” business. Licensed contractors won’t have the prices that “fly-by-nighters” have, but they will be there for any warranty or problems you may experience.

2.  You could be liable if the “fly-by-nighter” gets injured doing the work at your home. That’s right, without the license and insurance that a legitimate HVAC Contractor is required to have, you are liable for injuries on your property.

3.  You could be violating the law. Not only isn’t this “fly-by-nighter” not paying the proper taxes and permit costs to your locality, you can’t be sure where your new equipment came from.

4.  You void any equipment warranty. Manufacturer’s require a licensed contractor to install HVAC equipment in order for your warranty to be upheld. It is being suggested that the license number of the contractor will be required in order to register for your warranty.

5.  Safety for your family. Last but in no way least! If your “fly-by-nighter” doesn’t do your wiring properly or your ventilation properly, you could be risking your family’s health and safety.
